INTRALASE™ is a bladeless way or performing the first step in LASIK surgery – creating the corneal flap. Until recently, the only way to do this step was with a mechanical device using an oscillating blade. Intralase provides a bladeless alternative that can reduce flap complications and make the LASIK procedure even safer and more precise. Once the flap is made with Intralase, the second part of the procedure is performed as usual with the VISX excimer laser to reshape the cornea and correct nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism.
