Astigmatism is...

Astigmatism is a word of Greek origin that loosely translates to "without a spot"— meaning that images are caused to be malformed or distorted. It is an unfamiliar word that can frighten people into believing that there is something seriously amiss with their eyes. Simply put, having astigmatism means that the cornea, or front part of your eye, is shaped much like a football instead of like a basketball. This causes an image to seem partly in focus and partly out of focus. More than likely, nearsightedness or farsightedness is also present in patients with astigmatism. Fortunately, astigmatism is easily corrected with a laser vision procedure, such as LASIK or PRK.

testimonials

"I am a 36 year old physician and I suffered with very bad eyes until I met Dr. Saimovici. He was the only one who understood the problem with my eyes and was able to correct them. I had LASIK in one eye and ICL in the other. What a miracle it is to be able to see again without glasses!”" – Luiza P., M.D.

"I cannot imagine what my life would have been like without the benefit of improved vision. God bless you!" - Patricia DiGiacomo
